I love how much time I have on my hands in the school holidays. Even though I'm still working, there seems to be so much more free time, especially in the evenings.
Lately, I've been using the extra time to get back to my sewing roots. Mum taught me to sew when I was really young. I think I made my first ever dress when I was 8? It was a black and white check gingham dress with puffy sleeves, and I loved it so much! I'm pretty sure Mum would have helped me out a lot, especially with the puffy sleeves, but from that day on I was hooked on making my own clothes.
This is my latest sun smock (I love a good smock!). I found this fabric a couple of years ago when I was shopping for costumes. It's such a pretty cotton voile that I just HAD to have it at the time! (Haha) It only took me two years to use it, but at least it proves that I do eventually use the material I buy. (wink)
OMG! I had to heavily airbrush this close up shot and my skin still looks frightening. EEK! Once you hit your 40's you really can't hide those years of sun damage anymore (even with photo editing software).
Harry moved into his holiday house in the backyard on the weekend and he's been sleeping there every night since (except for when it didn't go below 30 the other night – it was too hot to sleep outside!). Every night he grabs his torch and book and set's out for the night. Then every morning he gets woken up by an excited dog. J
Wendy, that is just adorable !! LOVE LOVE LOVE it...in fact, I think I want one :D

I wasn't much older when I started sewing - I rarely ever bought a dress and still have a couple of my favourite patterns from the 70's (shhhhhh....)in a basket. Did you do your own pattern for the smock?
Love Harry's home away from home!

I love that smock, it's almost as gorgeous as the woman in it!
